Within my Community Supported Textiles course, using the textile skills I learned in the course, I created an At Home Natural Dyeing and Yarn Spinning Kit. The kit would include the instructional guidebook photographed above, PH strips, a yarn gauge sizing card, a drop spindle, and 100 pre-mordanted catskill merino carded fleece. The communities I would target for customer bases include knitters, crocheters, and others who do projects and crafts with yarn; artistic people who also hold an interest in sustainability, nature, and connecting to the natural environment around them; those on Ravelry and Etsy; and knitting circle communities. My involvement with brands and marketing strategy would include pitching the company Catskill Merino to sell the kits at their stands as well in the NYC greenmarkets, advertising through and selling on Ravelry and Etsy, and holding sponsored workshops within existing fiber arts communities to show how these skills could be included in their practice.
